We’ve already talked about Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone in our official announcement of the device, and it’s time to take a closer look at the phone’s specifications. The Essential Phone is a very powerful handset, it’s a flagship-level smartphone, and on top of that, it looks very sleek as well, thanks to its almost bezel-less design. The Essential Phone is made out of titanium and ceramic, and it also sports a set of POGO pins on the back, which will allow you to connect Moto Mod-like accessories to the device.
The Essential Phone features a 5.71-inch 2460 x 1312 LTPS / CGS display (19:10 aspect ratio), and this display has curved corners, similar to the one included in the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6. The Essential Phone packs in 4GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 2.45GHz, which comes with the Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. This is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment, and seems like a logical choice for this device. A 3,040mAh battery is included on the inside of the Essential Phone, and it features fast charging via USB, that’s all the info that Essential shared with the public when it comes to fast charging. You will charge up this phone via its USB Type-C port on the bottom of the device, and you will need a nano SIM in order to use the device to its full capacity.
There are two 13-megapixel cameras included on the back of this smartphone, an RGB + mono camera sensor with image fusion technology, and a monochrome sensor (f/1.85 lens). With this dual camera setup you’re getting the Hybrid Auto Focus combing Contrast tech, while PDAF and IR Laser Assist Focus sensors are also included here. An 8-megapixel shooter is located on the front side of the Essential Phone (f/2.20 fixed hyperfocal lens), while Android comes pre-installed on this smartphone, though the company did not share which version exactly are we getting, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer in order to get that particular piece of info. The device sports a fingerprint scanner on the back, and the company says this is the fastest available fingerprint scanning tech out there, though no details were provided. The Essential Phone comes with Bluetooth 5.0 LE, while it offers 4G LTE connectivity including FDD-LTE (bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 17, 20, 21, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66), TDD-LTE (bands 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43) and TD-SCDMA (bands 34, 39). The device comes in Black Moon, Stellar Gray, Pure White and Ocean Depths color options, while it measures 141.5 x 71.1 x 7.8mm, and weighs 158 grams.
