Tronsmart may not be the most popular name when it comes to portable battery packs, or portable chargers, but they do make some great products. Their latest is the Presto 10,000mAh portable battery pack, which is a pretty thin battery pack that features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 as well as their own VoltIQ technology. It’s great that it’s thin and light, as it makes it easier to slip it into your bag when you’re traveling and such, without taking up much room or adding more weight. Additionally, it’s small enough that it could fit into your pocket. We took the Presto 10,000mAh with us to Google I/O last week, to keep our devices charged during the busy days in Mountain View, and the Presto 10,000mAh actually performed really well.
As you can tell by the name, this battery pack has a capacity of about 10,000mAh. Which isn’t a lot, but it is definitely plenty for recharging your smartphone at least a couple of times. It was able to recharge the Galaxy S8 about 3 times before it needed to be recharged itself, we found in our use of the Presto 10,000mAh. It does also have two USB-A ports, one is a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 port, which is also backwards compatible with Quick Charge 2.0, Quick Charge 1.0 and even conventional charging. The other port uses their VoltIQ technology. This is a proprietary technology which actually talks with your device to find out how much juice it can take and sends it just enough to charge it quickly without damaging your smartphone. Finally, the third port between these two is a micro USB port for charging up the Presto 10,000mAh. Now, with most smartphones switching over to USB-C, it would have been nice to see this also make that switch (that way you only need a USB-C cable and not a micro USB cable as well), but that should be coming in the very near future.
Besides how thin the Presto 10,000mAh actually is, I also really liked the material that it is made out of. It isn’t metal, but it does use a soft-touch material on the outside. This does pick up the grease from your hands, but it also makes it easier to hold onto, and keeps it light. If it had used a metal casing, the battery pack would have been a bit heavier. Now there is also a button on the left side of the Presto 10,000mAh that allows you to turn it on, but also see the amount of juice that’s left, which is indicated by the four LED lights on the front. Each one roughly represents 25% of the battery. And that’s about it for the Presto 10,000mAh.
Tronsmart made a great battery pack here. They made it thin and light, which is something people have been asking for, for a long time, but they also made it work well without throwing in a ton of bells and whistles – like Bluetooth. The Tronsmart Presto 10,000mAh also comes in at a pretty competitive price, considering it does feature Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It is typically priced at $23.99, but since this is sold exclusively on Amazon, the price can fluctuate a bit and may be found cheaper on Amazon from time to time. It’s definitely worth picking up if you are in need of a new battery pack. And if you have a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatible battery pack, it should be an impulse buy. As it is currently the thinnest Quick Charge 3.0 compatible battery pack on the market.
