Waze Now Offers User-Recorded Voice Option For Navigation

Waze now offers a user-recorded voice option for navigation, so if you weren’t keen on any of the voices that were provided by Waze and your favorite celebrity voice is no longer available, you can now simply record the turn by turn direction terms yourself, or if you prefer, you could ask a friend or family member to do it and ask them to have a little fun with it. Of course, it’s in Waze’ best interests to recommend that users speak as clearly as possible to ensure that you can easily hear the directions as they come up, but that likely isn’t going to stop users from having as much fun as possible with this new voice option.

You can find this new option tucked away in the settings menu of the Waze app if you have the latest version update. To find it, simply tap on the search button in the bottom left corner, and when the pop out menu slides in from the left, tap on the gear button to open up the app settings. Scroll to find “sound & voice” listed under Advanced Settings and in there you should see the new option for Voice Recorder with a “new” tag on it.

Inside you’ll find a fairly long list of different turn by turn direction terms and to record your voice you’ll need to tap on each and every one of them, record the term, then hit the save button to activate them for the next time you need to use directions. There are quite a few terms in the list, but the nice thing is that Waze has designed this new feature to default to whatever voice you have selected for the ones that you don’t record. That being said, if you really only want to record few terms, you can do so and leave the rest on the default. There’s also a really easy way to put all the terms back to a default voice sound as there’s an option to remove them all from the list down at the very bottom of the page where the terms are all listed. This new voice recorder option follows up the recently added Mr T. voice that showed up in the app that showed up back on May 3rd. If you haven’t already installed Waze on your device, you can grab the app from the Play Store button below.
