Every month more and more apps make their way into the Play Store and every month some users have to ask themselves if those new apps are worth giving a shot. While not everyone will be able to answer that question, perhaps we can make it a little bit easier by tossing together a list of some of the best apps for this month. There are ten apps in total on this list though they’re not ranked in any particular order, so if you’re on the hunt for a new app or you’re just curious to see what’s out there, check out the list below and see if there is anything that catches your interest.
WiFi Spy Detector
There are certainly more complex and involved ways to check out if your Wi-Fi connection is being used, but a little app called WiFi Spy Detector can make the task a little simpler for anyone who doesn’t have the knowledge or the time to dedicate to keeping tabs on their network connections. This is a security tool, so if you want to keep a close eye on your Wi-Fi at home then think about giving this a shot.
Xperia Home Beta
This is only for Sony Xperia phones but it just recently landed in the Play Store to make it easier for Sony device owners to install the latest beta version of the Xperia Home launcher. It’s a great option if you use one of the most recent Xperia devices which now have support for the beta.
Photopills
This is an interesting app for the camera lovers. It lets you calculate the positioning of the sun, moon, and milky way so you’ll know at one time of the day will be the best time to capture an epic photo with either of those three things in the picture. If you like photography and enjoy playing with creative elements like this one, Photopills is one way to make your pictures stand out a little bit more.
Screenshot Assistant
Any smartphone can take a screenshot on Android these days, but what this app does is give you a simpler way to take a screenshot as all you have to do is hold down the home button. Once you have your screenshot the app also lets you edit it by cropping the screenshot to your liking, and you can even share it all before you back out to do anything else.
Echo Look
This is the companion app to Amazon’s new Echo Look device. Once you take full-length photos with the Echo Look, you can see those photos in the Echo Look app and build a look book comprised of all your different outfits. You can share these images with others, and there is even a feature called Style Check which lets others vote on which outfits look the best on you, so you can make those tough decisions on what to wear and end up with the perfect outfit for the occasion.
Face Swap
Microsoft’s latest app is all about fun and games. Minus the games part as there are no games here. There is fun though. Face Swap is just what it sounds like – an app for letting you swap your face onto another person to make for some hilarious results. While there are definitely some practical uses for the app, like checking out what you might look like with a different haircut, it also provides a nice way to share funny photos with friends and family.
Audvel
If you like podcasts then this app is for you. Audvel is a new podcast application which acts like any other podcast app really, but Audvel is free, has a nice material design-inspired user interface, and it’s easy to use. Definitely worth a look if you listen to another podcast app which has a subscription or one-time fee.
Bark
Bark is a solution to assist parents in keeping their children safe online. It’s essentially a way to link your kids social media accounts and messages so that if there are any signs of cyber bullying, or any other inappropriate types of behavior, the app can send alerts to notify you as the parent that there might be a problem to deal with.
GameSpot Now
Love games? Good. Then GameSpot Now has you covered. The app is all about news revolving around games and entertainment and features full screen images, videos, and stories about current and upcoming games that you may be interested in. There is even a level system where you can level up by reading more stories and interacting more with the app. This is an app about video games after all.
Adobe Scan
Adobe’s latest app is a huge benefit if you ever find yourself needing or wanting to scan stuff and transform into a digital format. Take a recipe in a magazine for example. If you don’t want that magazine page hanging around all the time or if you’re afraid you’ll lose it, Adobe Scan makes it easy to scan the page, turn it into a PDF document, and store that document in the Adobe Cloud. You’ll need to have an Adobe Cloud account to use the app, but that’s free so why not check it out?
