Duolingo’s Japanese course has started to go live for some Android users as the company recently put out a blog post stating that they were initiating the Android rollout. The good news is that the Android app will now be showing the Japanese course as a language option. The bad news for those that want to learn Japanese using Duolingo is that this is a slow rollout, and the emphasis is on slow, as Duolingo itself has made a point to highlight this particular detail. As it currently stands some users will be able to see the course in the app while others may need to wait a few days to even a couple of weeks before it goes live for them.
Duolingo says that it will roll out the update to a small collection of Android users every single day in an effort to make sure things are working correctly. It doesn’t want any issues to surface and this is apparently the best way for it to make sure things go according to plan. The daily rollouts will continue until 100 percent of Android users are able to select the course, but there is no time frame for how long that may be, so any interested users will simply need to check the app on a daily basis to see if it’s popped up.
That said, Duolingo does mention that if things go the way they’re supposed to then the middle of next week should see the last portion of users get the update to the app that includes the Japanese course, so it may not be that long of a wait as it’s already Friday and the middle of next week is only about five days away. The course will only show up if users have the most recent version of Duolingo, so making sure you have the latest update for the app is key to getting access to the course, which means you’ll want to be checking your app updates consistently to see if it’s available for download. If you don’t yet have Duolingo installed and you’re interested in checking to see if the Japanese course is up, you can grab the Duolingo app from the Play Store button below.
