An image that’s said to be taken with the Honor 9 surfaced online on Wednesday, having been posted by Kumamoto Technology on Chinese social media website Weibo. The photograph that can be seen above has been heavily resized, compressed, and stripped of all metadata, meaning it cannot serve as a reliable source for deducing details about the primary camera of the upcoming Honor device. However, Huawei’s phone subsidiary is expected to deliver a smartphone with a dual camera setup consisting of a 20-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel one, with the latter likely being a wide-angle lens. This camera configuration should provide the Honor 9 with the ability to quickly focus on multiple objects located at varying distances from its main pair of sensors.
According to previous leaks, the two cameras located on the back of the Honor 9 will be arranged in a horizontal manner, positioned in the top-left corner of its rear panel and flanked by a dual LED, dual tone flash unit from the right. The top bezel of the upcoming smartphone is said to house a single-lens camera setup, though no other details on the thereof have yet been leaked by industry insiders. Other recent rumors indicate that the Honor 9 will be powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 system-on-chip (SoC) and 6GB of RAM, in addition to featuring a 5.15-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The device is expected to offer 64GB of internal flash memory expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card slot that will also double as a SIM tray in the form of a conventional Hybrid SIM setup. Apart from the Honor 9, Huawei’s sub-brand is also expected to launch the Honor Band 3 next week, with some industry watchers speculating that the company may opt to bundle the two together.
It’s currently unclear when the Honor 9 will be available for purchase, but the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer previously confirmed that the device will be officially announced in the Far Eastern country on Monday, June 12. Due to that state of affairs, more details on the availability and pricing of the handset are bound to follow shortly.
