OnePlus accidentally confirmed that its upcoming flagship will feature a dual camera setup as the source code of the official OnePlus 5 promotional page contains a tagline that reads “Dual Camera. Clearer Photos.” The tagline hasn’t been published on the website’s frontend as the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer likely wanted to keep that revelation for a later date but has now ended up indirectly confirming this highly rumored feature of the OnePlus 5. The same promotional message was already sighted on a supposed retail packaging of the upcoming handset that now received more credibility and the only thing that remains to be seen is what kind of a dual camera system will the OnePlus 5 feature in the end. The tagline hidden in the source code of OnePlus.net can be seen beneath this writing, while the code itself also contains references to a pre-order period for the OnePlus 5, though it’s currently unclear whether advanced orders will open as soon as the company announces the device on June 20.
As per recent rumors and leaked sightings of the flagship, the OnePlus 5 will sport two horizontally arranged sensors in the top-left corner of its rear panel that will be accompanied by a dual LED, dual tone flash. The Shenzhen, Guangdong-based original equipment manufacturer (OEM) hasn’t revealed many details about the imaging capabilities of its next phone so far, though the company did confirm that French imaging firm DxO Labs is participating in the development of the handset in an effort to maximize its camera capabilities. Some previous benchmark listings suggested that the OnePlus 5 will feature two 12-megapixel rear sensors and an 8-megapixel front camera, though reports on its specs have been somewhat inconsistent so far and it remains to be seen which information proves to be legitimate in the end, though a model with 8GB of RAM has been heavily rumored about in recent months.
Regarding hardware details that have already been verified by OnePlus, the firm’s latest Android flagship will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC) and be thinner than the OnePlus 3T, in addition to boasting better imaging capabilities than its predecessor in low-light conditions. More information on the OnePlus 5 is expected to follow shortly as the Chinese company will likely continue teasing the device in the coming days.
