Possible Alcatel Pixi 5 Tablet (9024O) Certified By The FCC

An Alcatel-branded tablet bearing the model number 9024O that’s possibly the Alcatel Pixi 5 has been certified by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this month, as evidenced by a number of related testing documents published by the agency on Thursday. Like all other contemporary Alcatel devices, the newly uncovered model was manufactured in China by TCL Communication, a Shenzhen-based tech giant that holds the rights to make products under the Alcatel brand. The testing documentation published by the FCC also contains a relatively detailed sketch of the tablet that can be seen above, revealing that the device in question will have a microSD card slot and a SIM tray, with the latter feature confirming it will support Internet connectivity, and the FCC’s other remarks clarifying that the tablet is LTE-enabled and supports both CDMA and GSM bands, meaning it can work on all wireless networks in the country.

It’s currently unclear whether the Alcatel 9024O will be offered in a gray color variant that’s suggested by the sketch above, though the image seemingly confirms that the device will sport a single-lens primary camera setup on its rear panel. The FCC’s listing also reveals that the model is powered by a 4,000mAh Li-polymer battery that obviously isn’t removable, while the dimensions that can be seen above indicate that the device is a little over 100mm wide and around 180mm tall, meaning it likely sports a 7-inch or 8-inch display panel. No other relevant information on the tablet has been provided by the FCC, but its model number, a reference to the “PIXI5-8,” and all other information suggest that it’s the successor to the Alcatel Pixi 4 that was released in summer 2016. That particular product was an entry-level Android tablet with the Mediatek MT8321 system-on-chip (SoC) featuring four cores clocked at 1.3GHz and 1GB of RAM, and its successor will almost certainly provide an upgrade on those specs.

Alcatel has yet to detail the 9024O in any official capacity but given how its predecessor was launched in this quarter of last year, more information on the device will likely be available shortly, especially as the possible Alcatel Pixi 5 has now been certified by the FCC and is seemingly one step closer to its stateside release.
