Report: JXD S192K Android Gaming Tablet To Launch This Month

The JXD S192K Android gaming tablet will be released this month, possibly as early as Saturday, recent reports indicate. The Shenzhen, China-based consumer electronics manufacturer detailed its upcoming device earlier this year, revealing that it features a 7-inch IPS LCD display panel with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels and is powered by the RockChip RK3288 CPU, a 64-bit chip with four Cortex-A17 cores clocked at a maximum frequency of 1.8GHz and the Mali-T764 GPU. The JXD S192K will also boast 4GB of RAM of the DDR3 variety, in addition to sporting 64GB of internal flash memory that will be expandable by up to 128GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. Just like its name suggests, the tablet is essentially an updated version of the JXD Singularity 192, featuring more powerful specs and a similar design.

Much like JXD’s previous revisions of its Android gaming tablet series, the JXD S192K is set to have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $359, meaning the device will compete in the mid-range segment of the market. While the internal hardware powering the JXD S192K is relatively commonplace, its set of full-fledged physical controllers isn’t, and is what the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer is hoping will differentiate the device from some of its competitors, at least among consumers who are primarily looking to play Android games on their tablets. The physical controllers are a non-removable part of the tablet, making the JXD S192K an exclusively gamer-oriented product with a relatively limited audience. Still, JXD has been filling this niche for a few years now and with the company continuing its efforts to do so, it seems that there’s enough demand for Android gaming tablets to make products like the JXD S192K commercially viable.

One unique software feature of the tablet is that it ships with more than 2,500 retro games that its owners will be able to download free of charge. The Chinese company claims that the 10,000mAh battery powering the JXD S192K can provide up to 12 hours of battery life, though it remains to be seen how the device holds up in everyday use. Likewise, it’s currently unclear which exact version of Android is the JXD S192K running but more details on the matter and its global availability should follow shortly seeing how the tablet is reportedly scheduled to be released by the end of the week.
