The Samsung Galaxy C10 will start at 3,499 yuan, or around $515, according to recent rumors originating from China. The upcoming smartphone is set to be Samsung’s first handset with a dual camera setup on its rear panel, with industry insiders expecting it to launch in the Far Eastern country in the coming months. The Galaxy C10 is thought to be available in two variants, boasting 64GB and 128GB of internal flash memory, respectively. Both models are said to ship with a microSD card slot that supports up to 256GB of expandable memory and can also double as a nano SIM tray thanks to the Hybrid SIM setup that the Galaxy C10 is expected to utilize. The aforementioned price tag is believed to be attached to the base model, with the more premium variant likely to be priced at the equivalent of around $600.
Apart from the Galaxy C10, the South Korean original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is also rumored to be working on the Galaxy C10 Plus, a larger variant of the same handset that will likely ship with similar specs and also be available in two storage options. Apart from the screen size, the only notable hardware difference between the two is said to be the amount of RAM; whereas the Galaxy C10 is believed to feature 6GB of RAM, the Galaxy C10 Plus is expected to launch with 8GB of RAM. Both smartphones are set to compete in the upper mid-range segment of the market and likely won’t be available in the West where Samsung is already offering its Galaxy A series. The Seoul-based consumer electronics manufacturer is prioritizing China with the upcoming Galaxy C-series models due to the fact that the company has been steadily losing share in the largest phone market in the word and currently accounts for only around three percentage points of the entire industry.
While consumers in Europe and North America are unlikely to get a chance to purchase either device from an official retailer in their home countries, they shouldn’t wait too long for Samsung to release a phone with a dual camera setup as the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 is believed to feature such a system. The successor to the Galaxy Note 7 is scheduled to be launched in the coming months, with some industry insiders expecting the official announcement to be made in late August.
