T-Mobile Says Nougat To Land On Galaxy S6/S6 Edge This Week

T-Mobile says Android Nougat should land on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge sometime this week as its product manager and avid Twitter user Des recently tweeted that T-Mobile has now approved the software update for both versions of the phone today, and that the software update is nearby. No exact date was highlighted, so the software could start hitting devices as early as sometime this evening, which means that users with either phone on the T-Mobile network who are waiting for the Nougat software may want to periodically check for the software update manually if they haven’t seen it come through yet.

Any users who don’t see the update come through over-the-air this week should be reminded that not everyone is guaranteed to get the update before the week is over. As always software updates of this nature are rolled out to users in stages so as to ensure the smoothest update process possible, and T-Mobile has a greater level of control to help them prevent anything going wrong if they don’t try to rush out the software to all users at once. That being said it’s best to keep an eye on your device and the settings menu just in case you’re looking forward to the Android version bump.

As for what’s new, both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge will be making the move from Android Marshmallow to Android Nougat, so the change will include a hefty-sized file download that is likely to weigh in at over 1GB and take up a nice amount of space. With such a large file users are certainly encouraged to initiate and complete the download while connected to a Wi-Fi network if at all possible, and the update process likely isn’t going to be allowed by the system software unless the battery is charged up to at least 50 percent or more. With Nougat, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners on T-Mobile will be treated to a slew of new improvements and features like improved Doze Mode, Google Assistant access, better device management, potentially better battery life, and a handful of other changes.
