Verizon Launches the Gear S3 Classic & Frontier with 4G LTE

Samsung’s latest smartwatches are now available with 4G LTE connectivity at the largest wireless carrier in the US, Verizon Wireless. The Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier launched today at Verizon, and also bring the company’s NumberShare feature with it. What this means is that users will be able to use their phone number from their smartphone, onto their Gear S3 Classic or Gear S3 Frontier to make calls, answer text messages and such. It’s similar to AT&T’s NumberSync, which was launched with the Gear S2 over a year ago.

The Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier are largely the same. The only difference between the two is the color. The Gear S3 Classic has a silver casing, making it look more “classic”, while the Frontier is darker, and it’s actually better suited for the adventure types out there. Otherwise the two sport the exact same features. While the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier will work flawlessly with Samsung smartphones, both of them do also work with all Android smartphones. These do run on Tizen OS, so it’s not Android Wear, which means some of your favorite apps may not be available – but it’s highly likely that they are. Both smartwatches feature a rotating crown, for navigating through the OS, and multi-day battery life. Samsung quotes that both will get around 3-4 days of battery life, but in real life, most are getting around 2-3 days. That’s still quite good for a smartwatch.

Verizon is offering both smartwatches for $349 on a two-year contract, or $399 outright (it doesn’t make much sense to pick them up on a contract with this pricing). However, Verizon is running a promotion right now for the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier. If you purchase the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, you can get $100 off of the Gear S3 Classic or Frontier, if you pick it up on a new two-year agreement. Both smartwatches are available in-store and online at Verizon’s website right now. You can head to either link below and pick one up. Both are great smartwatches, and definitely worth being on your wrist.
