Lately, the big thing has been to make “retro” style versions of new products. And Nintendo and Amazon have teamed up to create a Super NES Edition of the Nintendo 3DS XL. It is only going to be sold at Amazon, as it has evidently secured an exclusive on it. It is available for pre-order now with an estimated launch date of November 27th, and it is priced at $199. As an added bonus, those that pre-order the Super NES Edition of the Nintendo 3DS XL will also get a download code for Super Mario Cart, which is one of Nintendo’s most popular games right now.
The Nintendo 3DS XL does play all of the Nintendo DS games, however those will not appear in 3D. Amazon notes that the 3D mode is recommended for those that are older than 7 years of age. The AC adapter is being sold separately here, but this Nintendo 3DS XL model does use the same AC adapter as other Nintendo 3DS XL’s, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems. This is a great system to pick up if you have some nostalgia for video games, as it is painted like the Super NES, but still works with all of the newer games, so kids will definitely be happy with this Nintendo 3DS XL being given to them this holiday season.
Now while this is under pre-order and shipping on November 27th, it is important to note that if you want to be sure you’ll have it for the holidays, you should pre-order it. If stock of the Nintendo Switch is anything to go by, only pre-orders will get shipped in 2017, which could be an issue if you wait until Black Friday or later to pick one up – hoping the price will go down. Speaking of pricing, Amazon has its pre-order guarantee on this product. Which means that if the price drops before your Nintendo 3DS XL Super NES Edition ships, you’ll pay that lower price, instead of $199. So you won’t need to worry about waiting for Black Friday to get it cheaper (it launches the Monday following Black Friday).
