FIFA 18 was officially released last week for console and PC and those who have picked up the game, or plan to pick it up, will likely also want to download the corresponding companion app for Android. The EA Sports FIFA 18 Companion is now live on the Google Play Store (the updated version actually became available a few weeks before the game launched) and is a free to download app, although you do need to have an EA account, as well as the actual FIFA 18 game, before you can really start to use the app.
You will also need to set up a FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) Club as in reality this is the main purpose of the app. As the FIFA 18 Companion app is largely designed to ensure FIFA Ultimate Team users are able to maintain their FUT activity while away from the console/PC. The Play Store listing highlights this point in detail noting how this app will offer users full control of their FUT as well as the ability to make last-minute transfers, and prepare a team for an upcoming match, all while on the go. For those who made use of the previous FIFA 17 Companion app, the Play Store listing also notes that this latest version includes a new feature where users can gain rewards by completing daily and weekly objectives.
Once the app is downloaded on a compatible Android device users are unable to create an FUT account directly from the app. Which does mean the FUT account will first need to be setup via a console or the PC – in no uncertain terms this essentially acts as a way for the app to authenticate the user has the game in the first place. Once the FUT account is up and running, the user will be able to log in to the app as normal using their login credentials. At which point, all of the FUT functionality will be extended out from your console/PC version to the app version.
