First Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Teardown Pops Up In China

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is Xiaomi’s all-new flagship, and the first teardown of this smartphone has just surfaced. This teardown, as expected, comes from China, from the Geekbar site, which is a China-based tech site. In any case, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 was announced last month, and we’ve actually already reviewed this smartphone, in case you were wondering. If you’re interested in the teardown itself, read on.

There are quite a few images for you to check out in the gallery down below, and those images will lead you through the teardown process itself, just in case you’re looking to fix your Mi MIX 2 handset, or need to provide someone else with instructions as to how to do that. Now, the first thing you’ll need to do is, power off the device, of course. After which you’ll need a suction cup in order to remove the back side of the phone, and also some sort of a pry tool, as the suction cup on its own will not be enough to remove the Mi MIX 2’s back side, be careful not to cut the fingerprint scanner cable, though. At this point, you’ll need to remove 10 screws in order to get access to more of Mi MIX 2’s components, as you need to remove the metallic plate which covers all of those internals. Now from this point on, you can start removing the phone’s internals one by one, though be careful not to damage anything, of course, and it is always recommendable you find an expert if you’re not confident in your skills.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 actually comes in two design variants, the regular model is made out of metal and ceramic, while the special edition handset comes with a ceramic unibody build. The variant that was dismantled in China is actually the regular model of the phone, if you own the special edition Mi MIX 2 handset, things will be somewhat different. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 comes with a 5.99-inch FullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of native storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, while it comes with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera. A 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also included in this package, and so is a 3,400mAh non-removable battery.
