Lawnchair Is A New Launcher Boasting Pixel Features

Lawnchair is a new launcher boasting Pixel features, stating that it’s bringing Pixel features “to the masses” for anyone that has wanted to get their hands on some of the features you would find in Google’s Pixel devices without having to actually buy one. Say for example, you’re really attached to your LG G6, but you want some of what the Pixel has to offer. Lawnchair Launcher is seemingly offering that sort of capability.

As for what Pixel features are available with this new launcher, which is currently in an “unreleased” status, the main one that should be pointed out is Google Now integration. You can find Google Now integrated into Google’s own launcher, as well as Nova, and now Lanwchair Launcher is offering it as well. With this integration in place it’s simple to access Google Now right from the home screen just by swiping to the left, making it quick and painless to access it. This might not matter to some, but it could be invaluable to anyone who uses Google Now quite often.

Of course Google Now integration isn’t the only good feature to look forward to here. Lawnchair also offers things like the notification dots and shortcuts that you’ll find on Android Oreo, custom grid sizes, and the ability to customize the dock for your home screen icons. It’s even got support for icon packs, though it’s worth keeping in mind that this doesn’t automatically open it up to being used with every single icon pack out there, as the packs themselves will still have to add support on their end for the launcher, and considering this is new, that may take some time for certain packs. Another thing to make note of is that Lawnchair Launcher will need an app called Lawnfeed installed on the device for Google Now integration to work. Visually the launcher is styled to look pretty much stock, similar to the Pixel launcher with a couple of tweaks, and the nice part for most users is that it supports a wide range of devices, save for the Pixel 2 which Lawnchair says will be getting support at some point in the future but it isn’t quite read yet. The same goes for Pixel 2-related features, as those will be added into the launcher at a later date.
