Libratone has announced the release of two new ‘Made for Google’ audio products. Yesterday Google confirmed the launch of the new Made for Google program, which is designed to support a wide range of companies who produce officially supported accessories for the company’s latest devices. It has now been confirmed that among those companies is Libratone, who today announced the introduction of the Q Adapt On-ear headphones and the Q Adapt In-ear USB-C earphones.
Starting off with the Q Adapt On-ear (shown above), these headphones present a pretty simple, lightweight design and are available in two colors: Cloudy White and Stormy Black. Libratone has designed the headphones with wireless use in mind, hence the built-in Bluetooth connectivity, which also allows the product to take advantage of the Pixel 2’s fast pairing feature. In Bluetooth listening mode, the headphones are said to last for up to 20 hours on a single charge, and when running low the headphones can be charged via USB. For those who prefer the more traditional method of plugging headphones into a device, Libratone is also offering buyers the option to do so as the headphones include a 3.5mm headphone jack. These headphones also provide access to a number of other features too, such as noise cancellation, automatic audio pause whenever the headphones are removed from the user’s head, and a daisy-chaining functionality that allows two people to listen to music from the same device. The Q Adapt In-ear USB-C earphones on the other hand (shown below), appear to be focused more on outdoor use and are also available in Cloudy White and Stormy Black. Instead of being Bluetooth-enabled though, these earphones stick with the more traditional cable, albeit with a USB Type-C connector instead of a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Q Adapt In-ear also includes playback controls, adjustable noise cancellation, and even sweat-proofing.
Both of the Q Adapt audio products are now listed as ‘Coming Soon’ on the Google Store and they are set to become widely available in the US starting from October 6, while those in Europe will have to wait until next month, with November 1 pegged as the launch date for Europe. Price-wise, the Q Adapt On-ear headphones will be available in the US priced at $249, while Libratone’s In-ear offering will cost $149, therefore pitting it against Google’s own Pixel Buds, which retail for $10 more, priced at $159.
