Honor is launching a new smartphone in India, namely the Honor Holly 4, which is technically the same device that was released earlier in 2017 in China and Europe under the name of Honor 6A. The smartphone fits in the affordable market segment and carries the same specifications as before, including a 5-inch display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset under the hood.
The Honor Holly 4’s display clocks in at a resolution of 1280 x 720 and the aforementioned Snapdragon 430 SoC is paired with 3GB of RAM, though it should be noted that the Honor 6A has been previously released in two configurations making use of 2GB and 3GB of RAM respectively. As expected given the amount of RAM, the device in India comes with 32GB of on-board memory as opposed to 16GB, and storage can be expanded externally by up to an additional 128GB through a microSD card slot, which doubles as a secondary nano-SIM card tray. These components are wrapped in a metal body which can be acquired in one of three color options, namely Gray, Gold, and Silver, and the back panel accommodates a fingerprint scanner as well as a 13-megapixel main camera paired with an LED Flash and taking advantage of phase detection autofocus as well as 1080p video recording capabilities. A 5-megapixel camera resides on the opposite side along with a proximity sensor and a loudspeaker, and the top of the device has enough room for a 3.5mm headphone jack. The power button along with the volume rocker is found on the right edge and in overall, the smartphone measures 143.7 x 70.95 x 8.2mm while weighing 144 grams.
The Honor Holly 4 is powered by a 3,020mAh battery and runs EMUI 5.1, Honor’s proprietary skin for Android OS, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The device is launching in India through the company’s partner retail stores across the country where the device carries a price tag of Rs. 11,999, which translates to roughly $183 at today’s conversion rate. At the moment it’s unclear whether the variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage will also be released in India or remain exclusive to the Honor 6A in other regions.
