The Misfit Vapor Launches Oct. 31st At $199

The Misfit Vapor is launching on October 31st at $199 according to Misfit. This is an Android Wear 2.0-powered smartwatch complete with all the things you’d expect like Google Assistant, the Play Store for direct installation of apps, onboard music functionality with the ability to listen to music from Google Play or Pandora, and what Misfit has referred to as an enhanced fitness experience. Since this is Android Wear-based, most of if not all the features you can find on any other Android Wear watch should be available, though it won’t be possible to use it for things like Android Pay, unfortunately, as the watch doesn’t contain NFC.

The Misfit Vapor will be on sale from Misfit at its own website but it’s likely that the watch will also pop up at other retailers at some point. That said it isn’t mentioned when that might happen or what other retailers could end up selling the watch, though it’s possible Amazon could end up being one of those retailers since it already carries other Misfit products. The Misfit Vapor does offer GPS as a feature of the watch, but it is Connected GPS meaning your smartphone will still need to be on you to use the GPS function. If you’re not needing the GPS for any reason, it’s still entirely possible to leave the phone at home.

Like other smartwatches running Android Wear 2.0 the Vapor offers a customized watch face as well that lets you add widgets and app shortcuts from the apps you use the most, allowing you to glance down at the screen quickly and get the information you need without having to take your eyes off the task at hand for too long, like finishing a run or cycling session. Specs-wise the Vapor is about as standard as it gets, coming with a 1.39-inch display that’s completely round, 4GB of internal storage for music and apps, and it’s resistant to water at up to 50 meters, so you should be ok to wear it in the rain and not worry about spills or sweat damaging it. The watch will be available in Blue and Black at launch.
