New Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) Renders Show An Infinity Display

A couple of new unofficial renders which supposedly depict the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) wrapped in two different protective cases recently emerged on China’s Weibo network. The pictures lend more credibility to the idea that the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018) will adopt a full-screen design or what the OEM refers to as an Infinity Display, though details regarding hardware specifications are lacking and it’s still unclear whether the device will adopt a single or dual-camera module.

The idea that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A (2018) series will make use of an Infinity Display is not new, with previous reports suggesting that the South Korean company will push the bezel-less design language from its flagship lineup to the mid-range series. Since then, a handful of leaks and rumors emerged to support this claim and the latest renders are no different in this regard. The pictures depict a bezel-less smartphone wrapped in two different protective cases, featuring a similar overall design but being shown in different colors. The cases feature a camera cutout at the back which seems large enough to accommodate a dual-camera module, however, it’s not entirely clear if this will be the case. Regardless, the camera cutout is accompanied by a smaller secondary hole presumably meant to allow the LED flash to operate as intended.

As for its specifications, the alleged Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) was previously seen in Geekbench’s database bearing the model number SM-A530F, which is similar to the model number labeling these new renders with the exception that the “F” suffix generally stands for a single-SIM, international variant of a Samsung-made device. According to previous reports, the device should be powered by a Samsung-made chipset that could be the still unannounced Exynos 7885 which was said to be built on a 10nm FinFET process while featuring a total of six CPU cores and the Mali-G71 graphics chip. The same benchmark listing revealed 4GB of RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat but by the time the Galaxy A5 (2018) hits the shelves, there is a possibility that some changes will occur in terms of software. As of this writing, there’s no concrete information as to when the device will be released but it’s very likely that it will debut in early 2018 following in the footsteps of its predecessor.
