The Arte Black variant of the Nokia 6 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash memory appeared on the U.S. edition of Amazon earlier this week, having been listed by the official Nokia channel more than eight months after its first unveiling. While the development marks the first occasion on which the Nokia 6 was mentioned in the context of U.S. availability by HMD Global, the Amazon listing itself still labels the product as being out of stock for the time being and gives no indication of when exactly might the handset start retailing in the country. Due to that state of affairs, pre-ordering the Nokia 6 Arte Black isn’t a possibility, though the listing does reveal its price tag – $299. The handset is hence $70 more expensive than the regular variant of the Nokia 6 with half the storage space and 3GB of RAM.
Unsurprisingly, the Nokia 6 Arte Black is still only rated as being compatible with GSM networks in the United States, i.e. those of AT&T, T-Mobile, and their wireless subsidiaries. The smartphone also boasts a more premium build compared to the previously released Nokia 6, having been made from a block of 6000-Series aluminum which was anodized, polished, and had its edges cut with a diamond drill. While the entire series is made of aluminum, the special variant and manufacturing process used for the Nokia 6 Arte Black was employed in an effort to make the handset stand out from its counterparts and other Android mid-rangers on the market, HMD previously said.
Like other members of the lineup, the Nokia 6 Arte Black is equipped with a 5.5-inch LCD panel featuring a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 SoC, an octa-core chip clocked at 1.4GHz. The 16:9 screen of the handset is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, with its internal storage being expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card which can also be switched out for a second Nano SIM card. The main camera of the Nokia 6 series is a 16-megapixel unit with an aperture of f/2.0 and phase detection autofocus support coupled with a dual-LED flash, with its front-facing module being an 8-megapixel (f/2.0) sensor. The smartphone ships with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will receive an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year, HMD recently promised.
