Oculus Rift with Touch Bundle Gets a Price Drop to $399, Officially

The Oculus Rift is now getting an official price drop from $499 to $399. This is going to be the “regular” price for the Oculus Rift + Touch bundle that the company has been selling for about a year now. This puts it at about $200 below what the HTC Vive costs, which hasn’t seen any sort of price drop yet and is still being sold at $599 nearly two years after it launched itself.

Oculus announced this new price for the Rift + Touch bundle today at its developer conference, Oculus Connect. The company has also announced a slew of other features, including a few that will be rolling out to Facebook’s website – not a surprise since Facebook does own Oculus. The Oculus Rift is not getting an update just yet, and it simply doesn’t need one. Facebook’s virtual reality vice president, Hugo Barra stated that the Oculus Rift + Touch bundle is “the best VR system at the price. End of story.” And he is correct. Most virtual reality systems that on par with the Oculus Rift are far more expensive, even the HTC Vive is a “cheap” VR headset at $599. The Oculus Rift also has a ton of games and apps already available for it, with plenty more on the way – many of which are being announced today.

The new price for the Oculus Rift + Touch Bundle are available today, with retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and many more that already sell the VR system, having marked down the price by $100. The Oculus Rift + Touch bundle had already been selling for around $399 for a few months. But the company has made the new price official. Which is going to leave to some exciting price points when it comes to Black Friday sales next month. Seeing as $399 is already a steal for the Oculus Rift + Touch bundle, seeing it drop even more could really entice a ton of people to pick one up – providing they have a VR capable machine to hook up to the Rift. The Oculus Rift is one of the better looking VR systems out there, and also is pretty lightweight, so you can actually wear it for a good bit.
