A rather interesting prototype smartphone has just surfaced in China. This smartphone does not seem to be functional at the moment, but it shows off some very interesting possibilities, it basically shows off how smartphone manufacturers could design a completely bezel-less smartphone. If you take a look at the gallery and the provided video down below, you’ll be able to see the device itself.
As you can see, this phone does not have any bezels around it, except for its frame, which is there so that you can hold on to something while you’re holding it. Having said that, some of you are probably wondering where is the earpiece? Where is the phone’s front-facing camera? Where are the sensors? Well, they all slide out, basically. This functionality is shown off well in the video that is embedded down below, if you slide the display down, you will see all of the sensors up top, and the front-facing camera as well, as they are tucked away behind the phone’s display until you pop them out. Now, this is a rather interesting concept, though such a device would definitely be somewhat thicker than your regular smartphone these days, which is not necessarily a bad thing, and it does not mean that it would be too thick, just thicker than the extremely thin phones we’re seeing out there these days.
Now, this concept was shared by the ‘oono’, which seems to be a Chinese company, though we don’t really have much info when it comes to it as of now. In any case, based on the info from the source article, this smartphone might actually become a reality at some point, though that probably won’t happen that soon. If such a phone ever gets announced, it would certainly offer a different take on a smartphone in general, as it would be different from basically any other modern smartphone out there. We have seen quite a few ‘bezel-less’ phones released this year, like the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG V30, Galaxy Note 8, Xiaomi Mi MIX, LG G6, Google Pixel 2 XL, and so on, but this ‘oono’ smartphone would be considerably different than all of them.
