Rumor: Xiaomi To Introduce Mi 7 In February Next Year

According to a new rumor that just surfaced in China, Xiaomi could launch the Xiaomi Mi 7 sooner than expected. If the provided rumor is accurate, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will arrive in February next year, so the OnePlus 6 might not be the only smartphone to arrive in early 2018, as a recent rumor suggested. Do keep in mind that this rumor does not exactly have much credibility as of now, if this information is accurate, more such rumors will surface in the near future, maybe even release date-related leaks.

As some of you might already know, the Xiaomi Mi 6, the company’s current flagship smartphone, was announced back in April this year. Now, Xiaomi might opt to introduce the Mi 7 during next year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, as they did the Mi 5 last year, as the timing definitely fits, but we’re only guessing, as MWC was not mentioned in today’s rumor, at all. A recent rumor said that Xiaomi and Qualcomm are currently working to optimize the upcoming Snapdragon 845 SoC for the Xiaomi Mi 7, and that final testing phase should kick off in February, in which case the phone probably will not land in February, but it remains to be seen what will happen. The Xiaomi Mi 7 will, quite probably, sport Qi wireless charging, as Xiaomi joined the Wireless Power Consortium recently, and the Mi 7 is the company’s next flagship smartphone launch, so it makes sense.

Having said that, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is actually expected to arrive with really thin bezels, and if recent rumors are to be believed, it will also sport a rather large display, it may arrive with a 6-inch panel. Does that mean that Xiaomi will introduce two size variants of the Mi 7? Well, it’s quite possible, as the Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch display, just like its predecessor, so it seems a bit unrealistic that Xiaomi would just drop a huge Mi 7 at us, without a smaller variant. We still do not have much info when it comes to the phone’s spec sheet, but chances are that it will feature at least 6GB of RAM, and it will probably arrive with an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
