Sprint Updates The LG G6 With CallingPLUS Support

Sprint is now rolling out a new update that will add the CallingPLUS feature to the LG G6. CallingPLUS is a solution developed by the carrier that enables simultaneous transmission of voice and data over LTE networks. Handsets with this feature are capable of maintaining fast data speeds even if the subscriber is making calls or sending text messages. The service also makes handoffs and swift automatic switching between LTE and Wi-Fi networks possible, the company previously said. Aside from the LG G6, other devices equipped with this feature include the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, Galaxy J7 Perx, and the LG Stylo 3. The update will also install the latest Android security patch and “wholesale VoWiFi,” Sprint said, without elaborating on the matter any further.

The update is currently rolling out over the air although it may take several days before all units receive it. Otherwise, users may attempt to manually start the update process by going to the Settings app of their Android flagships. Before the installation process begins, it’s important to make sure that the LG G6 has at least 50 percent of battery charge left and enough free storage space. It is advisable to download the update via a stable Wi-Fi connection since the file weighs approximately 775MB. Once the installation process is completed, the new software build can be identified by the version number LS993ZV8.

The LG G6 was launched by the South Korean manufacturer in early 2017 and sports a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2,880 by 1,440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset containing a quad-core Kryo 64-bit CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The device has two rear cameras, both of which are equipped with a 13-megapixel sensor. One of the rear cameras has a 125-degree wide-angle lens and an aperture of f/2.4, while the other rear snapper has a 71-degree lens and an aperture of f/1.8. On the other hand, the front-facing shooter comes with a 5-megapixel sensor. The device initially shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat, although the Seoul-based phone maker is expected to update it with Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming months.
