Three UK will carry Huawei’s newly announced Mate 10 series of Android flagships, the wireless carrier confirmed in a statement given on Monday. No specific availability details have been provided by the company but more information on the matter should follow in the coming weeks, with Huawei saying that its new product family will start hitting select markets as soon as late October. The United Kingdom wasn’t specifically mentioned by the Chinese phone maker as one of its target markets, making Three UK the party that officially confirmed at least some of the Mate 10-series devices will make their way to the country.
It’s currently unclear whether the mobile service provider will carry all three phablets that Huawei announced just hours ago or if the company will miss out on some of the new models. Huawei’s Monday event saw the unveiling of three smartphones in the form of the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Porsche Design Mate 10, with the latter device essentially being a more premium version of the Mate 10 Pro with more storage space and a unique color. Huawei already confirmed that none of its latest offerings will be particularly affordable, with their European prices starting at €700 or $825 and going up to €1,395 ($1,645) for the Porsche Design Mate 10. In the context of the U.K., those pricing details likely suggest that the base Mate 10 model will start at approximately £620.
Three UK suggested that all of its regular plans and benefits will be available to (future) customers seeking to purchase one of Huawei’s new devices from the Maidenhead, Berkshire-based firm and it remains to be seen whether the company opts to introduce any specific plans for the upcoming flagships. The display is one of the main differences between the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, with the former having a 5.9-inch QHD panel and the latter shipping with a 6-inch FHD+ one boasting a taller aspect ratio of 18:9, i.e. 2:1. The more affordable model also features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space, whereas the Mate 10 Pro comes with double the native memory and 6GB of RAM. The Porsche Edition Mate 10 boasts 256GB of storage but otherwise ships with identical hardware to the Mate 10 Pro. While the Mate 10 will have its commercial debut later this month, the other two phablets are only set to be released in mid-November, according to the Chinese OEM.
