While Google already had a number of different bases available for the Google Home, which were all announced last year. The company has silently debuted a couple of new ones, with placeholders on the Google Store. Unfortunately, these are not clickable, so you are unable to see what color they actually are and how they look. But the two new ones are a Coral fabric base, and then a Carbon colored metal base, both of which will cost you $20 each.
With the Google Home, the search giant made sure that you would be able to swap out the bases if you wanted to, for other colors. While it ships with a gray base, it does offer about 6 other colors, which are either in fabric or metal. And now the company has added a couple of others. This is likely what Google will be doing for the foreseeable future, since it doesn’t need to put out a successor to the Google Home every year. As speakers don’t really change that much, and Google doesn’t need new hardware to improve the Google Assistant – which is actually improving every single day. It’s also good to give its users more choices to make their Google Home a bit more unique.
Today’s event had quite a bit of news in the Home space, even though Google Home didn’t get a successor. Google did unveil the Google Home Mini and Google Home Max. The Google Home Mini is a smaller speaker, with a smaller price tag. While the Google Home Max is set to compete with Apple’s HomePod and it does come in at about the same price tag as well – $399. The Google Home Max is for those that want even better sound out of their Google Assistant speaker, and the speaker is said to be about 20-times more powerful than the original Google Home, which is impressive. But the Google Home is still a great speaker to pick up, and is priced right in the middle of these two, with a $129 price tag. Although you can routinely find it elsewhere for a bit less, if you’re willing to wait a little while.
