UMIDIGI S2 Now Receiving Its First OTA Update

The UMIDIGI S2 represents the current flagship smartphone offering from UMIDIGI as it did only become available to buy within the last month. However, in spite of it being so new, the company has confirmed that the device is already in the process of receiving its first OTA update. This update will bring the software up from version “UMIDIGI_S2_V1.0_0922” to the new “UMIDIGI_S2_V1.0_0929” version. As for what’s included with the update, the changelog is pretty small but does include some fundamental aspects which will improve user performance in general.

For example, UMIDIGI has explained that this update will further optimize the fingerprint sensor, resulting in a quicker unlock time. Likewise, although no specifics on this have been mentioned, UMIDIGI has confirmed that the camera UI has been redesigned to improve functionality and navigation. While the last notable change is the inclusion of a new ‘battery save mode’ which automatically activates itself once the battery reaches a low enough level. While UMIDIGI has now confirmed the update as in the process of rolling out to devices, this is a staggered update. Meaning that only a small number of users will see the update arriving today. Once the update has been seen to be rolling out without any major issues UMIDIGI will then embark on a much wider deployment of the update. Which the company says is expected to happen within the next few days. So owners should expect to see this update arriving very soon, if they have not already.

For those new to this phone, the UMIDIGI S2 is one which takes some of its design focus from the likes of the Galaxy S8 which can be best seen in the minimal bezel use along with an 18:9 aspect ratio. As for the specs, the UMIDIGI S2 sports a 6-inch display with HD+ resolution, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor. Additional features include a dual camera setup consisting of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 5,100 mAh battery, 4G LTE support, and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
