HMD Global’s rumored budget-friendly Android smartphone called the Nokia 2 was recently spotted on the website of U.S. online retailer B&H Photo Video. The page has been shut down shortly after going live, indicating that its brief appearance was likely an accident, but traces of the page’s existence have remained in Google’s cache and reveal a pre-order price tag of $99 and confirm the device’s dual-SIM capabilities and model number.
According to the information briefly revealed by B&H Photo Video, the Nokia 2 bearing the model number TA-1035 will be available for pre-orders in black. It’s unclear whether the device will also be available with a single SIM card slot, though it’s likely that the Nokia 2 will be released in at least two color options including white or silver. The cached pre-order page doesn’t reveal many other details about the device, and no exact shipping dates have been listed aside from the promise that the handset will be “coming soon.” In any case, it’s worth noting that four different model numbers have been previously associated with the Nokia 2, including the “TA-1035” listed by B&H Photo Video, as well as the TA-1007, TA-1023, and TA-1029. All of those model numbers have been approved by the FCC this August and all should make use of roughly the same hardware components.
The Nokia 2 was previously spotted in the GeekBench database where some of its other hardware characteristics have been revealed, including a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset featuring four ARM Cortex-A7 CPU cores clocked at up to 1.1GHz, and an accompanying Adreno 304 graphics chip. The device should also house at least 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board memory, and some sources previously suggested that the smartphone could be powered by a 4,000mAh battery. Either way, rumors indicate that HMD Global could release the Nokia 2 at some point before the end of November, and with at least one online retailer now seemingly preparing to offer the device on pre-order terms, evidence suggests that the smartphone should be officially introduced soon. Pricing has not been officially confirmed so whether the $99 price tag will stick remains to be seen, but the Nokia 2 should be more affordable than the Nokia 3 which is currently retailing for approximately $139, depending on the market.
