It seems like Xiaomi is on its way to Spain. Xiaomi Spain actually released a rather interesting teaser on its official Twitter page, suggesting that the company is planning to open up shop in Spain. This teaser image shows off Xiaomi’s mascot dancing, and above it you’ll notice the ‘Hola Espana’ tagline. Now, along with this image, Xiaomi also shared the following tagline: “Spain, are you ready for Xiaomi?”, which obviously suggests that the company will start officially selling their products in the country soon.
Xiaomi is a really well-known brand at this point, though in some markets, the company is far better known than in others. Xiaomi has opened up shop in a number of countries outside of China, but it still doesn’t exactly have a worldwide reach. People are importing Xiaomi’s phones to various parts of the world, but Xiaomi is not exactly officially selling its products in that many countries outside of China, as China and India are its main markets, while the company is trying not to overextend itself and expand too much at once, which is a mistake LeEco did. In any case, Xiaomi did not release any specific info regarding its Spain expansion, but we’re presuming that the company’s devices will be available for purchase from the company’s official website, or through some of the company’s retail partners in Spain, we’ll just have to wait and see. It is also possible that Xiaomi is planning to open up a retail store (or more than one) in Spain, but who knows, we’ll see what happens, based on today’s teaser, Xiaomi will release more info in the near future.
That being said, Xiaomi is having a really good year in terms of sales, the company had managed to sell 10 million smartphones in September alone, and is aiming to hit the magic 90 million sales number by the end of this year, which will require it to sell around 10 million devices in October, November and December. Xiaomi had managed to sell around 60 million units, reportedly, last year, and it had to make changes in order to boost its sales in 2017, needless to say, those changes did the trick it seems. It will be interesting to see if the company is aiming any other European countries next to Spain, stay tuned.
