Gameloft's Android Games Cut IAPs Up To 50% For Black Friday

Gameloft started its Black Friday sale a day early this year and will be holding it until Wednesday, November 29th, the company revealed in a prepared statement, adding that nine of its Android games will be offering in-app purchases at discounted prices to commemorate one of the world’s largest shopping holidays over the week-long period, having content that’s up to 50 percent off. The price cuts also encompass iOS and appear to be identical on both platforms, with the largest discounts by percentages unsurprisingly being applied to the most valuable in-game content across the company’s selection of mobile games.

Asphalt 8: Airborne, Spider-Man Unlimited, and Blitz Brigade will all offer discounted IAPs as part of Gameloft’s prolonged Black Friday sale, as will Sniper Fury, March of Empires, and Magic Kingdoms. The final three games participating in the promotion are Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Dragon Mania Legends, and World at Arms. Different days will see different titles have their content offered at significant discounts, with some of the IAPs being specifically made for the newly introduced sale and actually launching at reduced prices. The selection of games encompassed by the promotion is rather diverse and spans multiple genres, from real-time strategies and auto-runners to first-person shooters and racing titles, so most types of mobile gamers should find at least one title they’re interested in. Gameloft appears to have prioritized its most popular offerings here, with some of them being more than a few years old but still finding themselves near the top of the Google Play Store charts. The firm’s Black Friday sale will officially be concluded on Wednesday midnight, according to its statement which didn’t elaborate on the specific time zone it’s referring to.

Following its takeover in late spring of 2016 after which Gameloft found itself under the corporate umbrella of Vivendi, the company started placing an even larger focus on free-to-play games and has essentially abandoned premium titles, which didn’t sit particularly well with the vocal minority of core mobile gamers. Regardless, Gameloft is still largely leading the Android and iOS gaming segment from the technological standpoint, with all of its new games retaining the high level of production values often attributed to their predecessors.
