If you’ve been waiting on the unlocked LG V30, your wait is finally over. B&H Photo has the unlocked LG V30 available for purchase now, no longer a pre-order item, and it’ll cost you $819.99. That’s a pretty hefty price for a smartphone, but still significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Apple iPhone X, both of which are over $900 each.
The LG V30 is one of the best smartphones of the year, but it gets overshadowed because there are so many great devices out there right now. The V30 is an evolution of the design that the company started with the G6 earlier this year. That includes a 18:9 aspect ratio display, so it’s a 6-inch display in the same body as the 5.7-inch LG V20 from last year. LG also decided to go OLED with the LG V30, so it’s a 6-inch OLED QHD+ display, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There are still two rear cameras on the V30, with a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on the V30 here. All of this is powered by a 3300mAh battery and it does have IP68 for waterproof and dust resistance. The LG V30 has curved sides, which make the device feel really nice in the hand, and makes it feel smaller than it actually is. This allows the user to really use that large 6-inch display.
B&H Photo does have the phone available unlocked, and it will cost you $820. But what is important to note here is that it is a GSM and CDMA device. This means that it will work on all four major carriers in the US. That includes AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. That’s great news for those that are looking to pick up this device and not be tied to one carrier or another. And it means that there won’t be two models available (one for GSM and one for CDMA), which is also good for the customer. There is only one color, unfortunately, the black color is only on the LG V30+ which is still only at Sprint and T-Mobile.
