G Suite Gets New Languages & Categories For Work Apps

Google is rolling out new languages and categories for templates in Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and will be available for G Suite customers and end users. Naturally, these changes also come with a large number of new templates to go into those new categories. Google worked with experts in each field to come up with the new templates and decide where they should go. Docs and Sheets are getting new templates and categories, which are only available in English for the time being. Templates for all three productivity apps that were around before this update are now available a number of new languages, including but not limited to Hindi, German, Japanese, Dutch, and Chinese. A full rollout is planned for the next few days, so whether you’re a G Suite customer or an end user you should see the full suite of new categories and languages available in this update before the middle of next week.

As far as new templates and categories, users will notice a new Project Management category in Sheets. SmartSheet has helped Google to create four new templates to populate the category, which currently comprises of a Gantt chart, a project tracking sheet, a project timeline sheet, and an event marketing timeline. PandaDoc, meanwhile, has helped Google to create four templates in a new Sales category for Docs. These are a sales quote, a training proposal, a software development proposal, and a request for a proposal. Zenefits, meanwhile, has helped Google to create a job offer letter, a job promotion letter, and an employment verification letter for a Human Resources category. Finally, Google worked with Upwork to create a Freelancer Engagement category, and fill it with an independent contractor agreement and a statement of work.

This is a series of G Suite features that users of the consumer versions of these apps will actually get a hold of, which is unlike some of the recent changes to Hangouts. Google is slowly widening the gap between the consumer versions of its productivity and communication apps and the more business-focused, and arguably more capable, G Suite versions. Some changes for G Suite users would likely not appeal to consumers, such as the splitting of the Hangouts app, or corporate management for Google Play deployments.
