Garmin Vivofit 4 Out With A Color Display, Year-Long Battery

Garmin on Tuesday announced its latest fitness tracker in the form of the Vivofit 4, having delivered a device that retains the year-long battery life of the Vivofit lineup while simultaneously introducing a number of new features, including an always-on color display. The wearable is launching as an Amazon exclusive priced at $79.99, with consumers also have the option of purchasing interchangeable accessory bands in White (S/M) and Black (S/M/L) for $19.99 per unit. Alternatively, the company will also be offering band combo packs in Speckled Navy and Speckled Merlot for $29.99. The device itself will retail in Limegreen Speckled, White, and Black, though only the latter variant can be bought bundled with an L band, whereas the other two are only coming with S or M bands out of the box.

By building on the foundation of its direct predecessor, the Vivofit 4 is seeking to once again provide consumers with an inexpensive fitness tracking solution that doesn’t require users to worry about recharges, compatibility, and additional expenses. The addition of the always-on color display allows you to quickly glimpse at any basic tracking information without having to interact with the device, whereas the Vivofit 4 is also compatible with the vast majority of contemporary (Android) smartphones, with this particular functionality being aimed at users who want to utilize the band to its full potential and take advantage of a robust fitness tracking solution. The Vivofit 4 is still entirely capable of standalone operation, the company says. The gamified Toe-to-Toe feature introduced with the Vivofit Jr. 2 also extends to the Vivofit 4, allowing parents to compete with their kids in fitness activities.

Many other technologies and functionalities like Move IQ which automatically detects and classifies movement, weather widget, and Find My Phone are all part of the newly announced package. Much like it’s the case with previously introduced smart bands from the Swiss company, the Vivofit 4 was designed with a “set and forget” philosophy in mind, allowing users to focus on remaining active instead of tinkering with their wearables on a frequent basis while still being able to obtain in-depth insights into their fitness activities whenever they want. The Vivofit 4 will be available for purchase later today; refer to the Amazon banner below to check whether the gadget already started retailing in your territory.
