Google has announced its 2017 ‘Best Of Play’ list for the U.S., showcasing the top items across all of the categories of content you can find in the Play Store app and its Google Play web counterpart. The list includes the best of the best for movies, TV shows, music, games, apps, and books, and while there were many great releases throughout the past year in all of those different content categories it’s not possible to choose and highlight them all.
The holidays are getting closer and closer now that it’s December 1st, and with the holidays comes lots and lots of down time as students, teachers, working professionals and everyone else in between will be headed into the holiday break. That also means there’s going to be colder weather setting in and with all that down time and colder weather there’s almost no better time to curl up with a good book. Should you be looking for a new book to read Google Play has you covered with the top five books of 2017, which includes The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, and It by Stephen King which shouldn’t be too surprising given the film remake released in September, and there were likely many people who wanted to catch up on the story by reading or re-reading the book before seeing the new film. The other three books included The Battlemage, Thirteen Reasons Why, and Ready Player One.
If you’re good on books but are in the mood for a new film to check out or a new TV show to catch up on, films like Moana, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Wonder Woman, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and Doctor Strange top the list for best five movies this year, while Game of Thrones and Rick and Morty led TV shows as the top one and two series to watch, followed by The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory, and Dotcor Who in spots three, four, and five respectively. For music, the top two songs that were streamed through Play Music were Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE, and Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. If games are more your speed, then there are loads of games on Google Play, and unsurprisingly the number one game this year was Nintendo’s smash hit mobile title Super Mario Run. This was followed by Bubble Witch 3 Saga, Magic Tiles 3, CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars, and BALLZ. Last but not least the top five apps this year were Photo Editor – Beauty Camera & Photo Filters, What The Forecast?!!, Boomerang, TopBuzz Video, and Yarn. Some of these you may have heard of before, while some of the content may actually be new and unfamiliar, in which case, they might be worth checking out.
