The Huawei Nova 2S leaked yet again, with one of its renders being shared by known industry insider Evan Blass earlier today. The image that can be seen above appears to correspond to previous sightings of the device that’s expected to compete in the upper mid-range segment of the handset market. The Chinese original equipment manufacturer seemingly opted to follow the latest design trends in the industry and deliver a smartphone with a tall screen surrounded by slim bezels, yet opted to differentiate itself from its rivals by retaining the physical Home button found on the Nova 2i that now barely fits onto the new handset’s bottom bezel. The same key is said to double as a fingerprint scanner, with the right edge of the phone housing a power button and a conventional volume rocker, both of which are depicted in the latest render.
The Huawei-made device now leaked in bright blue, presumably one of its official color options, though more traditional variants like black and gold are also expected to be offered by the company. While the Nova 2S looks similar to the recently launched Honor V10 manufactured by Huawei’s subsidiary, the handset isn’t meant to be a flagship offering but a compelling mid-range one, featuring the HiSilicon Kirin 960 and 6GB of RAM, as well as 64GB of internal flash memory expandable via a microSD card by up to 256GB. A Hybrid SIM setup is understood to be part of the package, allowing users to decide between having a second Nano SIM card or a microSD one in their device.
The Nova 2S is rumored to sport a 6.0-inch display panel with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels arranged in a tall aspect ratio of 18:9 (2:1). The dual-camera setup supposedly sitting on its back panel is said to consist of a 20-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel one accompanied by a dual-LED flash, whereas the slim top bezel of the mid-ranger should house a 20-megapixel module. The phone is expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box and will be officially revealed tomorrow, with Huawei already confirming its upcoming offering is launching on December 7th.
