A new smartphone render has just surfaced in China, and this is, allegedly, the back side of the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ2 handset. A real life image of the Xperia XZ2 actually surfaced a couple of days ago, sporting really thin bezels, and if the source is to be believed, this is the back side of that device, which is possible considering that the leak from the other day only showed us the front side of the phone.
Now, looking at this image, you will notice that there are two cameras included on this phone, and that they are vertically aligned. Below those two cameras, you will spot the NFC logo, and the phone’s fingerprint scanner, while in the middle of the phone’s back lies the company’s ‘Xperia’ branding. An LED flash is also included on the back, and it seems like the device is made out of metal. This handset sports curved sides, which is something we’re used to when it comes to Sony’s Xperia phones. Having said that, we cannot confirm that this leak is legit, but it seems as if it could be. Sony had confirmed earlier this year that the company will be changing its design language a bit, as in that it will deliver phones with considerably thinner bezels, and based on the leak that surfaced the other day, the Xperia XZ2 will definitely deliver, and also offer a phone which looks recognizably different than its competition.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 is the company’s current flagship smartphone, and it was announced back in August this year. Sony does have a habit of introducing two flagship phones per year, so it’s easily possible that the company will announce the Xperia XZ2 earlier than expected, quite probably during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in the first quarter of next year. The Sony Xperia XZ2 will almost certainly be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 SoC by Qualcomm, which is the company’s flagship SoC, presuming that it will be available in time for Sony to include it in the Xperia XZ2, of course. The device is expected to ship with Android Oreo out of the box, while the company’s skin will be applied on top of Google’s operating system, of course. The phone will probably arrive with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and you can expect to see a display larger than 5.5-inches included on the device.
