Official Pictures Allegedly Leak Of Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018)

Images of an expected 2018 iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy J2 has now allegedly leaked out onto the internet in two color variants, both black and gold. Although many manufacturers are pushing for a better screen-to-body ratio with their latest devices – even on the budget end of the Android Spectrum – Samsung appears to be shirking that trend, if these images turn out to be accurate. The images are included below, though it is worth mention that they could, of course, turn out not to be accurate.

Having said that, the overall design of the device shouldn’t be unfamiliar to those who have used prior J-series entries. A single camera resides on both the front and rear of the alleged Galaxy J2 (2018), with the rear camera assisted by an LED flash. There’s a single rear-firing speaker alongside. The front camera also appears to have a flash, in the images, as well as the sensor array and front-facing top speaker found in many Samsung devices. The button configuration also appears to be sticking around for the 2018 version of the Galaxy J2, with volume rockers along the left edge and a power button on the right. The front maintains Samsung’s well-established centered physical home button, accompanied by capacitive buttons to either side. All of that appears to be encased in plastic, which is not unusual for a device expected to cost around $136, by some accounts, when it finally comes to market.

Meanwhile, the specifications of Samsung’s 2018 Galaxy J2 – including a benchmark of a “Pro” or “Prime” variant – have also already leaked out across the web. As with the images, there is a chance that those will prove to be incorrect. So it bears repeating that they should be taken with a grain of salt. Keeping that in mind, the expectation is that the Galaxy J2 will be a 5-inch-rated device, with a qHD screen set up in the 16:9 format – as opposed to the latest trending 18:9 format. The front camera, meanwhile, is rumored to be a 5-megapixel sensor that is complemented by an 8-megapixel primary camera on the back. On the inside, the Galaxy J2 (2018) is said to include a quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz. That’s backed up by 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of MicroSD expandable storage. If the rumors surrounding the handset are accurate, the next iteration of the Galaxy J2 will also support dual-SIM slots. All of that will be powered by a removable 2,600mAh battery, charged by MicroUSB. On top of all of that, it is expected to run Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), which would almost certainly be overlaid by a variation of Samsung’s own skin.
