A new OxygenOS update has just arrived for the OnePlus 5T, an update that we received ahead of time, and which we talked about in our in-depth OnePlus 5T camera review (video embedded down below). Having said that, this update is said to improve the picture quality that the OnePlus 5T’s camera can produce, amongst other things, and based on what we’ve seen thus far, it delivers on that promise, especially in low light. Having said that, let’s see what else this update brings along, shall we.
The update in question is marked as OxygenOS 4.7.4, and it is already rolling out to the OnePlus 5T units OTA (Over-the-Air). Now, if you look at the changelog of this update, you will notice that this is not just an iterative update. In addition to improving the photo quality on the OnePlus 5T, the update also optimizes camera UI of the phone. This update mainly boosts the OnePlus 5T’s low light performance, though it seems like OnePlus tried to improve the photo quality on all fronts, based on the changelog entry. The company also claims that this update will optimize audio output from the phone’s speaker and its 3.5mm headphone jack, while Face Unlock optimizations are also being rolled out along with this update. OnePlus also improved phone’s vibration in this update, though OnePlus did not elaborate on what it exactly did, so you’ll just have to figure that out on your own.
In addition to everything we’ve mentioned, Wi-Fi will not be even gentler with the phone’s battery, and the company has also improved the stability of the fingerprint scanner, and also the phone’s GPS. As the last entry in this changelog, OnePlus mentions general bug fixes and system stability improvements, as per usual, which essentially means that a lot of smaller things have been fixed / optimized as well. Do keep in mind that you may not get this update straight away, as it’s an incremental rollout, so you may have to wait for a couple of days, or maybe even a week, but the update is coming, rest assured. Now, those of you who do not know, the OnePlus 5T is OnePlus’ latest flagship, it was announced last month, and it has been available for quite some time now, if you’d like to read more about the phone, check out our full review of this handset.
