Rumor: OnePlus 6 To Arrive In March With Synaptics' Clear ID

OnePlus had introduced its OnePlus 5 flagship back in June, while the OnePlus 5T handset, also a flagship, arrived back in November, and it seems like OnePlus may introduce the OnePlus 6 earlier than expected, at least according to a new rumor that just surfaced. According to this rumor, the OnePlus 6 may arrive as early as March next year, even though basically everyone expects it to drop in mid-2018, one year after the announcement of the OnePlus 5. This rumor comes from an unknown source, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Now, in addition to revealing its announcement timeframe, the rumor also says that the device will go on sale by the end of March, and it reveals some additional tidbits about the device. If the provided info is to be believed, the OnePlus 6 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845, as expected, and it will sport an under-the-display fingerprint scanner that Synaptics revealed quite recently. Now, it was earlier announced that Vivo will release the first smartphone with such a fingerprint scanner, and considering that both Vivo and OnePlus are owned by the same company, it is possible that OnePlus also becomes one of the first companies to get such tech, even though Synaptics said that it had started manufacturing its in-display fingerprint scanners for top 5 smartphones manufacturers, and OnePlus is still not one of them. This particular info actually casts some doubt on the info provided in this rumor, especially if the OnePlus 6 arrives sooner than expected.

That is more or less all the info that was provided by the source, as far as the rest is concerned, we can only guess at the moment. It is highly likely, however, that the OnePlus 6 will sport a dual camera setup just like its two predecessors, and the phone will probably be made out of metal once again. The OnePlus 6 will include 6GB / 8GB of RAM, just like its predecessors, or at least that’s what it is expected to ship with, while Android Oreo will come pre-installed on the phone with a new version of the company’s OxygenOS skin. On top of everything, you can also expect to see thin bezels on this handset, as the OnePlus 5T started paving the way for such design language as far as OnePlus is concerned.
