The Xiaomi Mi 7 is not expected to arrive before next year, the phone will launch in Q1 or Q2, and yet a new rumor has just surfaced. According to this rumor, the device will feature wireless charging (Qi standard), and the phone’s production will kick off in February. Xiaomi actually joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) in September this year, which indicated that the Mi 7 will ship with wireless charging, so today’s rumor does not exactly come as a surprise.
Now, in addition to all that, today’s rumor mentions that the Mi 7 may actually feature the same Broadcom chip and NXP transmitter (which enables wireless charging) as the 2017 iPhones. Having said that, we do not exactly know what exactly to expect out of the Xiaomi Mi 7, as a ton of conflicting info surfaced in the past couple of months, and it’s still a bit early for precise info, but we can always guess. The Xiaomi Mi 7 will, quite probably, sport considerably thinner bezels than its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 6. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is a compact smartphone which sports a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, but it has quite a bit of bezel above and below the display. Xiaomi will soon introduce several Redmi 5 smartphones which will sport rather thin bezels, so it’s safe to assume that the company’s flagship will ship with thin bezels as well. The device will, almost certainly, be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor which was not even announced just yet, but it’s expected to launch in the coming weeks.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 is also expected to make a switch to OLED technology, as far as its display is concerned, and it will probably sport a larger display this time around, considering its bezels will be thinner. The phone will probably ship with 6GB or 8GB of RAM on the inside, and you can expect it to ship with a battery larger than 3,000mAh. The Xiaomi Mi 6 does not sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Mi 7 probably won’t either, while the phone is expected to be made out of metal and glass. The device’s fingerprint scanner will probably be located on the back, in order to give Xiaomi a chance to trim down the bezels.
