Samsung devices are getting curved glass screen protectors from Belkin, who has today announced that it will be launching a series of new tempered glass screen protectors to help prevent damage to some of today’s most popular smartphones. While Belkin isn’t just launching these for Samsung devices, the focus on Samsung is due to those devices being the only devices that run Android that are part of this new line of accessories. Those devices which are getting these new protectors will be the latest flagship from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 8, in addition to the early 2017 flagships the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+.
All three phones will be getting the TemperedCurve model screen protector which as the name suggests, is meant to cover the curved edge displays that you can find on all three phones, and the “tempered” part points to the use of tempered glass, which in some ways can be more durable than your average screen protector, though they can break as they are made of glass. That said, Belkin’s not using just any old glass for the job. Instead it’s using high-grade Japanese tempered glass which Belkin points out allows for the user to feel like they’re still interacting with the actual phone screen because the protector retains the same tactile glide.
Belkin also notes that the glass is extremely resilient and “hard-wearing” which suggests that it’s quite strong and will be able to protect the actual phone screens from breaking. Belkin, who is not necessarily well-known for this type of accessory, is going to be launching these new screen protectors sometime in the early part of next year. Belkin does mention that the TemperedCurve screen protectors for the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S8+ will be available at mass retailers but it doesn’t mention which retailers, it does however mention that it’s own website will carry them. In addition to leaving out an exact release date though Belkin also doesn’t mention a price so it’s still unclear how much each protector will cost. Tempered glass screen protectors can cost as little as $9 on Amazon, so there’s a chance that these items from Belkin won’t be too costly.
