Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) Leaks In New Hands-On Video

The unannounced Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) bearing the model number “SM-A730F” has just leaked yet again, this time in the form of a hands-on video from Bangladesh that details nearly everything there is to know about the device, including several hardware characteristics and the OS version which unsurprisingly fits in the Android Oreo category. Furthermore, the source claims that the device will launch locally at the end of December for the price of around 50,000 Bangladeshi Taka, which would translate to a rather hefty $609 at today’s conversion rate.

As expected, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) adopts an Infinity Display with a taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio similar to the Galaxy S8 flagship series, and presents itself with thin side bezels and rounded corners. The 6-inch Super AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2220 x 1080 resulting in a pixel density of around 548 ppi and is protected by a layer of 2.5D glass. Meanwhile, the back panel is also covered in curved 3D glass and features a 16-megapixel main camera with an f/1.7 aperture and phase detection autofocus, as well as a fingerprint recognition sensor which can be used in conjunction with services such as Samsung Pay at MST and NFC-enabled point-of-sale terminals. The front panel accommodates two cameras namely a 16-megapixel main sensor coupled with an 8-megapixel secondary shooter, both of which have an f/1.9 aperture, and under the hood beats the heart of an Exynos 7885 chipset which has yet to be officially introduced by Samsung. The SoC appears to house a total of eight cores split into two clusters, specifically a dual-core high-performance unit clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with a six-core processor operating at a frequency of up to 1.6GHz. Additionally, the CPU is paired with a generous 6GB of RAM, and users will have access to 64GB of on-board memory which can be expanded via microSD by up to an additional 256GB. Other details worth mentioning lie in dust and water resistance, and a 3,500mAh battery supporting fast charging via USB Type-C, wrapped in a package measuring 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3-millimeters.

It should be noted that although the SM-A730F model number was previously linked with the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), in more recent weeks the same model number has been speculated to hit the shelves as the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) instead, and the latest hands-on video only further strengthens this notion. Samsung has been keeping quiet regarding the smartphone’s availability but given the amount of recent leaks surrounding it, a late-December or early-January official unveiling seems highly probable.
