The unannounced Samsung Galaxy S9 is reaching the headlines once again, this time due to an alleged hands-on image showcasing the front of the device while running the Contacts application. The live photo is of fairly low quality, however, the overall design showcased in the image matches the general expectations surrounding Samsung’s upcoming flagship and closely resembles the Galaxy S9 seen in one previously leaked image.
Unsurprisingly, the upcoming premium flagship by Samsung adopts a full-screen Infinity Display, but somehow the Korean OEM appears to have achieved an even higher screen-to-body ratio than before. The side bezels seem to be just as non-existent as they are on the ongoing model, but Samsung managed to considerably shrink the lower bezel as well, with only the top bezel now being thick enough to accommodate a loudspeaker and sensors. This is as close to a full-screen design as Samsung has ever gotten, and the evolution of the series over the past couple of years is quite evident in this regard. As to what other hardware components will be hidden behind the impressive full-screen panel, the image at hand wasn’t accompanied by any new spec-related details, though the Samsung Galaxy S9 has already been subjected to a wide variety of leaks, some of which have explored the device’s alleged internal hardware. According to reports, Samsung’s upcoming premium device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC which has yet to be officially introduced by the chipmaker and the Galaxy S9 Plus will supposedly offer 6GB of RAM along with a minimum of 64GB of on-board memory.
Following a similar route as the previous models in the series, the Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup is expected to consist of two main variants, the second of which will be known as the Galaxy S9 Plus. The latter model is expected to boast a 6.2-inch Infinity Display, whereas the standard non-Plus variant should adopt a slightly smaller 5.8-inch panel. As for availability, recent reports suggested Samsung may want to introduce its next flagship series a bit earlier than usual and unveil the Galaxy S9 in early January during CES in Las Vegas.
