T-Mobile is currently distributing an update to the Moto Z2 Force that will upgrade the handset’s operating system to Android 8.0 Oreo. This rollout comes a few days after Verizon, another US carrier, also released a similar update. After installing the software package, users of the Moto Z2 Force will now experience the features incorporated into the upgraded version of Google’s operating system. The picture-in-picture mode allows people to view two applications at the same time by placing one app in a smaller window that is layered on top of another software. Meanwhile, the notification dots feature alerts users on which applications have unread notifications and pressing these dots will open a set of in-app actions. The autofill feature, on the other hand, remembers the user’s usernames, passwords, and other pertinent information, making it easier for people to log in to websites or applications. There are also a number of under-the-hood improvements incorporated into Android 8.0 Oreo, including the reduced boot-up times and the Google Play Protect, which scans the smartphone for malware or any other form of potentially damaging software.
The update is currently rolling out automatically, and it may take several days before all devices receive the software upgrade. It is advisable that users download the software upgrade only when their smartphones are connected to a Wi-Fi network, since getting the update using a mobile data connection may result in additional carrier charges. Before downloading the software package, it is important to ensure that there is sufficient free space in the device’s internal flash storage in order to temporarily keep the installation file. In addition, users should also backup the files and images stored in the handset to a microSD card or a personal computer to prevent loss of data and they should also verify if the smartphone’s battery has enough charge to last the entire procedure.
The Moto Z2 Force was unveiled in July 2017, and it is powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm, which is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 64-bit CPU and the Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels while the variants of the handset sold in the United States contain 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage that could be expanded using a microSD card. To keep the lights on, the device includes a 2,730mAh battery and it supports Quick Charge 3.0 for fast top-ups of the device.
