WhatsApp is currently testing new features in beta that are supposed to hit the stable channel in the future, including the ability to easily unblock contacts. Another feature that should be rolling out to the official version of WhatsApp is a new “Invite via Link” shortcut in the group information tab, and as its name suggests, this particular addition should allow you to invite other people to WhatsApp by sending them a link. WhatsApp is also said to be adding a new section called Admin Settings to the app that should allow administrators to disable the group’s chat service for all participants except the administrator and escalate the privilege of specific group members so that they will be able to edit group details.
Other WhatsApp features currently in beta include a new tool called “Share to report” which will let you send error or bug reports to the Facebook-owned instant messaging app simply by shaking your phone. Once you activate this option, shaking the device will have WhatsApp automatically launch the Contact Us page through which you can send your report. Keep in mind, though, that these new updates are still in beta, meaning new actions might still be inconsistent or unstable. In addition to the aforementioned features, there are new additions to existing WhatsApp functionalities that are supposed to improve your experience with video calls. The new beta update will allow you to make group video calls, as suggested by some code references uncovered by WABetaInfo.
It is worth pointing out that the group video call feature is something that was spotted last October when WhatsApp began internally testing new features designed to let you make audio and video calls with groups of people. The references to group video calling were found in the beta version 2.17.70 of WhatsApp for iOS, though the service itself should also be coming to Android. Further to that, it is worth pointing out that this new capability is limited to up to three participants, including the one who initiated the video call, though it’s also possible that the number of participants will be expanded in the future.
