Confirmed: Galaxy S9 Will Launch At MWC 2018 Next Month

President of Samsung Mobile, DJ Koh, has confirmed at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2018, that the Galaxy S9 will be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February. Some reports suggested that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus may arrive sooner than expected, but it seems like that won’t happen. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus were announced after MWC last year, but that’s because certain delays took place, it seems like Samsung is getting back to its regular schedule with the Galaxy S9 and its sibling.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will probably go on sale in March, if they get announced in February, though that’s just a guess on our part, DJ Koh did not confirm anything of the sort. Those two handsets have been leaking for a while now, and we’ve seen a ton of rumors regarding both devices as well. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will probably resemble the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus quite a bit, as they will be made out of metal and glass, sports very thin bezels, and come with Samsung’s Infinity display, which sports curved sides. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus may sport thinner bottom bezel, compared to Samsung’s 2018 flagships, but they may also arrive with slightly larger displays, so the general footprint won’t change much, at least according to a recent leak. If a rumor that surfaced a couple of days ago is to be believed, the Galaxy S9 will ship with 4GB of RAM, in both 64GB and 128GB storage variants, while the Galaxy S9 Plus will arrive with 6GB of RAM and in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage models, while a 512GB storage model remains a possibility as well in certain markets.

Both of these smartphones will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, with Samsung’s custom UI installed on top of Google’s OS. The Galaxy S9 is rumored to sport a single camera on the back, while the Galaxy S9 Plus will, allegedly, ship with a dual camera setup on its back. A rear-facing fingerprint scanner is expected on both devices, and a Bixby physical key will probably make a comeback as well. Both devices will offer some sort of IP rating for water and dust resistance, and you can expect to see a curved back on both phones as well.
