HMD Global is allegedly planning to introduce an Android Go smartphone, the Nokia 1, and the phone surfaced in China. If you take a look at the images provided down below, you will be able to see the device which seems to be made out of polycarbonate (plastic), while a single camera is placed on its back, along with an LED flash. Well, the second image in the gallery down below actually shows only the back cover of the phone. Nokia’s logo is also located on the back of the device, and both the camera and an LED flash are protruding on the back a bit.
Having said that, this smartphone will, allegedly, be an entry-level smartphone which will run a lighter version of Android, Android Go, which Google introduced a while back. Android Go is considerably lighter than Android, and it comes with Android Go applications, which are essentially apps that are lighter than Google’s regular offerings. Last month, a well-known tipster, Eldar Murtazin, said that the phone is coming, while he also revealed some specs as well. Mr. Murtazin confirmed that the phone will be called the Nokia 1, and he said that it will sports 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage on the inside. He also mentioned that the device will be priced at 5,990 rubles, which translates to approximately $105. In addition to that, it was also mentioned that the phone will ship with an HD (1280 x 720) display, which means it will sport a regular 16:9 aspect ratio, not an 18:9 aspect ratio that we’ve seen on quite a few phones in the last year or so.
Having said that, Nokia is expected to start transitioning to an 18:9 aspect ratio, the company’s Nokia 9 handset is expected to ship with such a display, even though the Nokia 6 (2018) sports a regular fullHD (1920 x 1080) panel. The Nokia 1 will probably debut in entry-level markets, though we still do not know when will that handset arrive, but it’s probable that we’ll see it released in the first half of this year. The Nokia 1 will be the first ‘Android Go’ smartphone from HMD Global, at least if the aforementioned info is accurate. It’s worth noting that we did not see many rumors and leaks regarding this handset, so it will be interesting to see if the aforementioned info is accurate or not.
