The Google Assistant made its way to various new gadgets showcased at CES 2018, and the Solis SO-2000 alarm clock is one of them. With the Google Assistant baked-in, the new Solis SO-2000 is a wireless alarm clock with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, allowing users to utter voice commands for various tasks. The Solis SO-2000 can set alarms, play music, answer questions, and do many things that the Google Home speaker, also powered by the Google Assistant, can do. Users can also set reminders, search for information on the internet, control their smart home gadgets, and more, all via voice commands.
The futuristic gadget features two 5W high-fidelity speakers and an LED clock with automatic time setting thanks to Google Cloud syncing, which means that users will not have to bother to manually set the clock or adjust it to daylight savings time. In terms of design, the Solis SO-2000 clock sports a circular face positioned on a circular base. The time is shown near the bottom of the clock face, while the base of the device has several buttons for volume, music control, and more. The clock measures 6.25 inches in width, 5.5 inches in diameter, and 7 inches in height. The clock also comes with Chromecast built-in, which allows users to stream music from a tablet, smartphone, or laptop to the Solis speakers.
The Chromecast integration ensures wireless control from anywhere in the house, aiming to make things more convenient. Users can also rely on the Google Home app to stream music to one or more speakers, whether it’s the same music across different rooms or not. The option to create groups, meanwhile, should make it easier to manage music across multiple rooms. Although the clock is on display now at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, it will take a while to hit the market. The Solis SO-2000 Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Clock with the Google Assistant is set to go on sale at some point in mid-2018, but a more specific date has yet to be provided by the consumer electronics company. The device will cost $169.99 and be available in classic black and white color options.
