Google Assistant integration has come to Abode Home today for anyone who owns an Abode Home system. The integration should be live as of now and there are a number of already workable voice commands that one would be able to ask of Google, such as turning on the outside lights or dimming the lights in a specific room to a certain percentage, not too unlike what you might do with other smart home products such as the Philips Hue system. For the most part the interactions are the same and the commands shouldn’t be any different from other products of the same type.
Abode says that Google Assistant integration should be available to all Abode Home users now as it was approved recently so if you have an Abode Home set up then the voice commands should be up and running. Abode states that the new integration will allow users to control lights, switches, and and any power adapters that are connected to the Abode Home system all by voice, which is sure to make the control a lot easier as you’ll be able to do everything hands free, which is perfect if you aren’t able to open up the companion app, or if you didn’t already own an Echo device as Amazon’s Alexa is another integration that allowed for hands-free voice control.
Though there are already a few different commands that can be issued at this point, Abode says it is going to add more commands to the new integration as it plans to continue working closely with the Google Home team to do so. That said, Abode doesn’t mention a time frame on when new commands will be added to the integration with those that are already there, nor does it mention what those new commands will be. In addition to having the newly added integration with Google Home, Abode Home also has integration with Amazon’s line of Echo speakers, as well as IFTTT, ecobee, and Nest, so there’s plenty that you can do with the Abode Home and other smart home products if you’re looking to get started.
